Justice Edmunds and his wife Linda live in Greensboro. They were married in 1979 at Linda's home in Illinois. They have two sons, John and Ted, both in their 30's.
Justice Edmunds is a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Greensboro, where his parents were married at the end of World War II. His activities in the church have included service as an acolyte, lay reader, usher, annual giving chair, and member of the vestry.
Justice Edmunds was a Cub Scout. Both his sons were Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and they all participated in many camping trips to Mount Rogers, pinewood derbies, and other scouting activities.

from the cities and mountains of NC to Austria, Korea and Vietnam.
In college, Justice Edmunds played both lacrosse and soccer. He exercises every day, bikes on weekends, and has a closet full of shirts from 10K races. Justice Edmunds’ hobbies include observational astronomy, recreational reading, and an occasional computer game when time permits.
Justice Edmunds is a veteran of the United States Navy. After completing law school, he volunteered for duty as a line officer. He earned his commission at Aviation Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida and was assigned to jet flight training in Kingsville, Texas.
Although he loved to fly, Justice Edmunds’ flight instructors determined that he was not destined to be a pilot, and he was honorably discharged.
